This year, the former management of IDDEEA concluded contracts with suppliers regarding the delivery of personal documents.
Badnjević: The Agency complies with all legal obligations
Almir Badnjević, doctor of science in the field of biomedical engineering and head of the Verlab Institute, assumed the role of director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange (IDDEEA) of BiH a few days ago.
In his first media interview after assuming his new role, Badnjević discussed with “Dnevni avaz” about the state of affairs in the Agency and the upcoming initiatives.

“We are still conducting a thorough analysis of the situation, so I am unable to provide an assessment at this moment. However, what is most important is that the Agency is currently fulfilling all its legally prescribed obligations, in accordance with the legal deadlines for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will keep the public updated on all additional activities,” said Badnjević.
He referred to the “passport crisis” that occurred a few years ago as a result of issues with reproduction materials, emphasizing that he does not anticipate similar problems now.
“This year, former management signed contracts with providers for the supply of personal documents, so the situation should not reoccur in the next four years. However, because we are still reviewing all of the risks, we are unable to offer information on the potential consequences that could or may happen as a result of any detected risk,” Badnjević explained.
He will present the IDDEEA’s activity framework plan within 60 days at the latest, in the presence of all media, he continued.
Electronic voting
“In any event, our goal will be to make as many e-services available for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, allowing them to complete all of their requests as easily as possible. The same applies to all competent authorities IDDEEA works with. As regards the meeting with representatives of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH, where the idea is to implement a pilot project of electronic voting, IDDEEA will make maximum efforts and use all its resources to implement the project smoothly. Our team has already begun to put all services that fall under the responsibilities of IDDEEA and are related to the implementation of the electronic voting pilot project,” stressed Badnjević.
He stated that the Agency’s largest concern is solving the issue of appropriate building for efficient operations and compliance with international recommendations.
Work on scientific research
We also asked Badnjević if his appointment as director of IDDEEA will have an impact on Verlab’s scientific research.
“Verlab d.o.o., the firm, and Verlab, the scientific research center, have appointed extraordinarily high-quality and professional management, which I am confident will deliver far better results than in the past and respond to any problems that lie ahead. You will undoubtedly direct all future questions regarding Verlab to them. The role of the IDDEEA director is not an impediment to conducting scientific research,” Badnjević concluded.
