Director of IDDEEA BiH attended the 6th Western Balkans Digital Summit

Director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA BiH), Mr. Almir Badnjević attended the 6th Western Balkans Digital Summit (WBDS) held in Sarajevo on October 4 and 5, 2023. The summit was hosted by the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina and supported by RCC.

WBDS is a key regional event that brought together leading experts, government representatives, private sector stakeholders, and civil society members from Western Balkan countries and beyond to discuss digital transformation and its impact on the region. The conference this year had a particular emphasis on digital integration and transformation, covering issues that are critical to the future of our region.

Director of IDDEEA BiH, Almir Badnjević, was appointed as a speaker on the panel dedicated to digital integration and interoperability. His presence on this panel is a reflection of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s engagement in regional initiatives aimed at advancing e-government and the digital economy in the region. During the panel, Almir Badnjević shared his expertise and experience related to digital transformation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting key challenges and opportunities in this field.

On the interoperability panel, the director of IDDEEA BiH stressed the value of system standardization and data compatibility across many sectors and organizations. Interoperability is a crucial element for successful information flow among different institutions in the digital environment. The Agency’s Director explained the perspectives and approaches applied in Bosnia and Herzegovina to advance interoperability and also touched upon RCC projects for automatic driver’s license verification.

The director of IDDEEA BiH stressed that digital transformation is a major component in enhancing economic growth, governmental effectiveness, and the quality of citizens’ lives. This is an opportunity to demonstrate how Bosnia and Herzegovina is actively working on digital integration and transformation and is willing to engage with other nations in the region to accomplish shared objectives.

The director of IDDEEA BiH also took advantage of this occasion to meet with colleagues from other countries, as well as representatives of international organizations and private sector partners, to explore future projects and initiatives to strengthen digital cooperation in the Western Balkans.
