The Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an institution that plays an important role in fulfilling the basic prerequisites for achieving a broader range of UN Sustainable Development Goals, thereby contributing to stability, justice, and social inclusion in the country.
IDDEEA BiH contributes to social modernization, service efficiency, and the transition to a digital world by implementing electronic identification. All of this enables Bosnia and Herzegovina to accomplish particular long-term development goals.
By implementing digital solutions, the Agency achieves key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as SDG 5 (no poverty), SDG 9 (Industry, innovation, and infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reducing inequality), and SDG 16 (Peace, justice, and strong institutions), all while providing innovative approaches that support the development of infrastructure and technology. Furthermore, electronic signatures help to enhance legal institutions by increasing reliability and security in digital transactions, which can stimulate cooperation between the government, corporate sector, and civil society to achieve sustainable development goals.
Specifically, the Agency actively participates and contributes to guaranteeing the transparency of the electoral process by providing an updated central voter register and assistance with electronic signatures for the verification of required documents. Furthermore, within its purview, the Agency assists in the establishment of secure electronic systems for coordination between different levels of government, thereby facilitating the exchange of data and information relevant to the preparation of the national program for the adoption of the acquis.
