IDDEEA BiH and Municipality Centre Sarajevo working jointly to cut long queues: Launching the initiative for a qualified e-signature

Cities and municipalities in the digital era must adapt quickly to the problems presented by these changes, which emphasises the necessity for modern city administrations. The Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA) and the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo announced a creative initiative to use a verified electronic signature to improve business operations and provide more efficient services. The objective of this initiative is to enhance the performance of administrative processes, expedite citizen and corporate entity support, and streamline administrative procedures.

Along with his staff, Mr. Srđan Mandić, the Mayor of the Municipality of Center, enthusiastically supported the initiative, highlighting its potential to address the issue of long queues.

“We will reduce the pressure on the customer service offices, we would make it easier primarily for ourselves, the citizens, and colleagues from the ministries of the interiors,” Mandić stated.

The objective of the “electronic administration” initiative is to shorten the time needed for administrative processes thus enabling citizens and companies to use technology to promptly and conveniently complete their tasks. IDDEEA BiH keeps and maintains important registers as part of this project that is beneficial to all administrations.

By initiating this pilot project among municipalities, the Municipality of Center will set an example for others, said Mr. Almir Badnjević, Director of IDDEEA BiH, who expressed his gratitude for recognising the importance of this initiative.

He added, “We have provided a digital signature and thus made it easier for citizens to complete electronically from their homes every request that they used to handle manually.”

It is worth noting that the institutions do not charge a fee for data transfer and exchange, encouraging all cities and municipalities to take advantage of this opportunity and improve their work by having more efficient access to relevant data. This initiative represents a step forward in modernising city administrations and providing better services to citizens and businesses, and the Municipality of Center Sarajevo and IDDEEA BiH will continue to collaborate on improving digitalization and business processes.
