The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA) publicly formalised the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, outlining the terms of their future collaboration. This momentous occasion represents a significant advancement in cooperative efforts towards digital transformation and the improvement of public services in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
UNDP Resident Representative ad interim, Ms. Narine Sahakyan, and the Director of the Agency, Almir Badnjević, expressed their contentment with the initiative, signifying the continuation of prosperous collaboration for mutual benefits. With its Office for Bosnia and Herzegovina, UNDP demonstrates a keen interest in enhancing its efforts to assist the digital transition of the country. The growth of the information society, e-government, and cyber security are the primary focus of the initiative.
The signing of the Memorandum aims to increase collaboration in areas of mutual interest, since the IDDEEA BiH is a government agency responsible for the personalisation, storage, and transfer of identification documents, as well as for the maintenance of central registers and data exchange.
Developing and implementing safe and effective digital identity services to enhance the delivery of electronic public services, creating interoperable e-services for citizens and legal entities in our country, and developing digital infrastructure, including strengthening cyber security and data protection measures, are some of the agreed-upon activities in which cooperation can be accomplished, as well as, making use of current digital solutions and services to support initiatives that advance sustainable development goals.
All of these services could further improve the transparency and efficiency of public administration and could assist BiH in fulfilling certain EU priorities for Bosnia and Herzegovina related to the improvement of the institutional framework.
