IDDEEA BiH Director at the NetWork Conference on Digitisation: BiH is preparing to launch new e-wallets and e-services

A panel on the digitisation of public administration services was held as part of this year’s NetWork Conference on Digitisation in Neum. Participants talked about the advancements in digital services, with a focus on e-wallets.

The panel included prominent individuals from the BiH government and international organisations, such as Darija Softić-Kadenić, Minister of Justice and Administration of Sarajevo Canton, Ministry of Justice and Administration of Sarajevo Canton; Edin Forto, Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH; Davor Bunoza, Minister of Justice of BiH; Almir Badnjević, Director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange (IDDEEA); and Svjetlana Perković, Assistant Director, IT Sector, BiH Indirect Taxation Authority.

The last year’s panel raised a lot of significant issues with the digitisation of services, and this year’s panel discussed all that has been accomplished in the past year as well as future plans, with a focus on the use of e-wallets.

Almir Badnjević, director of IDDEEA, a state agency that is one of the most important stakeholders in the public sector’s digital transformation, emphasised the importance of transitioning to digital procedures within public administration.

“Electronic exchange was made possible for all cities and municipalities by IDDEEA. The opportunity to exchange digital data was granted by IDDEEA to all individuals who met specific criteria. They must now organise their internal documents and make this process available to the public. “Badnjević said.

He added that IDDEEA has developed a new platform that will enable digital data exchange, which will facilitate everyday procedures for citizens, such as a certificate of residence, etc.

We can illustrate that digitalization facilitates the everyday life of citizens in all sectors with a positive example from the Indirect Taxation Authority, which receives more and more documents with digital signatures every day. Svjetlana Perković, Assistant Director – IT Sector of the BiH Indirect Taxation Aduthprity, stated that the ITA of BiH has so far received 1 million documents with electronic signatures in line with the Electronic Signature Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the last conference, that number was 200,000.

Director Badnjević gave an overview to all attendees on the ongoing operations and challenges that IDDEEA BiH is facing, particularly in the process of digitisation, in the final session of the first day of the conference.

According to Badnjević, the launching of a digital wallet will provide citizens with free access to digital identities, e-signatures, e-health, and e-driving licenses.”

By 2026, BiH will enter the e-wallet project that will be free and compatible with European Union standards,” he concluded.
