The Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA) recently received seven off-road vehicles from the European Union that will ensure better efficiency of the IDDEEA operations throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Support for the improvement of the transport infrastructure of IDDEEA is part of the comprehensive support of the European Union to this Agency, and it refers to the strengthening of its operational capacities, which are extremely important for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
IDDEEA BiH, through its organizational units, plays a remarkable role in the performance of its competencies, which extend over the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through regional centers located in Sarajevo, Mostar, Bijeljina, Bihać, and the central headquarters in Banja Luka, the Agency provides support for more than 900 users in 143 municipalities. This extensive support requires high mobility of IDDEEA staff to ensure efficiency in service delivery across the country.
These seven vehicles, equipped with all-wheel drive, will be assigned to the Agency’s specialized teams to work in demanding off-road conditions and on different types of roads – including urban, mountain, forest, and construction roads. Their function will also include the transport of confidential documents or large quantities of equipment in these demanding conditions.
Off-road vehicles worth more than 240,000 euros will guarantee prompt and sufficient assistance to nearby local communities, as well as facilitate immediate response in circumstances requiring specialized equipment and vehicles made for challenging off-road conditions. Through initiatives worth millions of euros, the European Union consistently funds the Agency’s operations, providing IT equipment, IT networking, and other required supplies. Additionally, specialized trainings were planned to enhance the capabilities of the employees of the Agency in compliance with EU regulations.
IDDEEA BiH personalizes and distributes travel and identification documents for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Compliance of travel documents with EU standards is the main criterion for the visa-free regime between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina. IDDEEA BiH currently produces biometric passports of the 3rd generation, with the newest cutting-edge security features.
