INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PUBLIC PROCUREMENT SUCCESSFULLY ENDED

The International Conference on Public Procurement was held in Sarajevo on November 27, 2023, and brought together the most eminent experts from domestic and international circles. The growth and enhancement of the public procurement system, harmonisation with European regulations, and approximation of BiH legislation to EU directives were the main topics of discussion during the Conference.

This significant event attracted the attention of public procurement experts, representatives of government agencies, the private sector, and international organizations. During the Conference, important topics of strategic importance for the improvement of the public procurement process in Bosnia and Herzegovina were discussed.

The primary focus of the Conference was on harmonising national laws with European rules, with a particular emphasis on bringing BiH laws into compliance with EU directives. The participants shared best practises and experiences regarding applying of these principles, hoping to improve the effectiveness and transparency of the public procurement process.

Digitization of public procurement was also one of the important topics of the Conference, and the participants stressed the value of implementing electronic offers and the full electronic public procurement process. In addition to expediting the procedure, digitization also raises openness, lowers the possibility of corruption, and boosts the general effectiveness of public procurement.

We are particularly proud that Dragan Vukajlović, head of the Director’s office at the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was a panelist at the Conference where he pointed out that the Agency is prepared for a digital signature, which is crucial for the digitization of public procurement. His insightful experience further enriched the dialogue on the important issues under discussion. Bringing together domestic and international sectors in the field of public procurement through this Conference is a significant step in that direction.
