Notification of IDDEEA information equipment failure

Dear users,

We would like to inform you that on March 21, 2024, around 12:00 p.m. there was an issue with the information equipment under the control of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Because of this problem, a large part of our information system had trouble operating because of the large number of resources connected to the infrastructure.

Unfortunately, due to this issue, the Agency is now unable to ensure the continuance of certain services for our users. It is very necessary to highlight among them the Ministries of Interior where people submit requests for the issuance of all travel documents, identity cards, driving licences, then the technical inspection stations through which citizens carry out technical inspections of vehicles, as well as the exchange of data with all other competent authorities.

It is crucial to note that in previous years, we planned to acquire suitable equipment for these reasons multiple times, but we were unable to do so owing to a lack of funding and resulting in the termination of the procurement. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of funds and the failure of the procurement procedure in 2022 (the procedure was cancelled and we did not have additional funds in the budget to begin the procurement procedures), we were unable to acquire a new system. This year, the Agency planned to purchase the aforementioned equipment; but, because all state institutions are still on temporary financing, we are unable to do so.

It is worth noting that the equipment was purchased in 2012. Despite the fact that it has long been deemed outdated, we have not been able to find a suitable replacement for it yet because of the previously described reasons.
Notwithstanding all of the difficulties, staff members of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been working nonstop over the past 20 hours and are making extra efforts to get operations back to normal as quickly as possible.

We truly appreciate your understanding and support at this difficult time.
