A major milestone in the European Union’s assistance for the IDDEEA BIH was reached during a press conference held at the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA BIH) in Banja Luka. Director of the Agency, Almir Badnjević, with the Ambassador of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johann Sattler, and the Minister of Transport and Communications of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, emphasized the importance of this support for all citizens of our country.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Delegation of the European Union for its continuous financial and technical support to the Agency, which since 2015 has allocated over 10 million euros for strengthening the capacity of IDDEEA, which included the procurement of specialized equipment used in the production of identification documents, equipment for monitoring and quality control, procurement of servers and other IT equipment, vehicles and provision of technical support”, said Almir Badnjević, director of IDDEEA BiH.
This support is another step towards strengthening the stability, prosperity, and development of our nation and further affirms the EU’s commitment to enhancing services and infrastructure that have a direct impact on the lives of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“All aspects of life are being affected by digitalization, which is also the EU’s top priority. The purchase of equipment is crucial, and having an electronic signature will benefit the general public as well as the business community,” stated Sattler.
At the press conference, the implementation of e-Identity was also demonstrated. Mr. Edin Forto, Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressed the importance of building digital roads together and encouraged all cities and municipalities to support and participate in the digital transformation process.
After the press conference, Ambassador Sattler visited the Centre for Personalisation of Documents, where he officially handed Director Badnjević seven off-road vehicles provided by the European Union to support the work of the Agency in the field.
