The city of Sarajevo is introducing digitization in public administration in partnership with IDDEEA BiH as of January 1, 2024

The city of Sarajevo is starting the revolutionary process of digitalization of public administration from January 1, 2024, by switching from traditional paper documentation to a completely digital format. This progress is the result of cooperation with IDDEEA BiH, whose free platform was developed to improve efficiency, productivity, openness, and transparency of public administration work.

At the meeting, Almir Badnjević, director of IDDEEA BiH, and Benjamina Karić, the mayor of Sarajevo, agreed on this critical step. “Anything that reduces the need for a person to take a day off due to administrative procedures is a big step forward,” stated the mayor.

The initiative attempts to shorten the time required for administrative procedures, allowing issues to be resolved without wasting time on traditional procedures. “We appreciate you considering us as a partner; we will do our best to justify it. There are more than enough of us to implement digitization,” Mayor Karić stated.

Apart from Sarajevo, the plan is to implement similar digitization in other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Cities like Bihać and Tuzla are determined to follow the same path to make administrative procedures easier for their citizens and provide faster and better support.

“Our goal is to ensure that citizens and businesses have faster and better support and that their requests are resolved more efficiently. Cooperation with the city of Sarajevo and the determination of the cities of Bihać and Tuzla to follow the same path are steps towards improving services,” said the director of IDDEEA BiH, Mr. Almir Badnjević.

This “electronic administration” project aims to provide citizens and businesses with more efficient assistance in obtaining all they require electronically.
