The Director of IDDEEA BiH emphasized the importance of electronic signatures at the GS1 Conference

The 8th GS1 Conference, named “Digital Expansion: BiH Path to Paperless Business,” was successfully held at the Hills Hotel in Sarajevo. The Conference gathered over 260 participants from the private and public sectors to discuss prospects and initiatives for the digital future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the Conference, Mr. Almir Badnjević, Director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers, and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasised the importance of electronic signatures in ensuring safe and legally valid transactions in the digital environment.

This year, the Agency enabled electronic signatures for Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens through BiH e-Identity, thus contributing to the achievement of UN SDG 9, in light of innovation and infrastructure, as well as Goal 7 of the EU Digital Strategy, which focuses on strengthening e-government. In his speech, Badnjević outlined the benefits and challenges of digital transformation in paperless business, including technological, legal, and organisational barriers.

“Electronic signature is not only a technical solution, but also a fundamental element for building trust in digital processes,” stated Badnjević. The electronic signature aims to considerably increase corporate efficiency, decrease bureaucratic barriers, and allow for a faster and safer flow of information between businesses and state authorities.
